My 2011 Gluten-Free Favorites

As the year comes to a close, I always take some time to think back & review the year.  I don’t only do this with my life, my family & friends, but now with gluten-free foods, too.  There has been a huge increase of gluten-free foods in mainstream grocery stores and restaurants over the past year, and even in the news in general.  Not all news or publicity is good, but that goes for just about everything.

The products above are all replacement gluten-free foods for the most part.  It is entirely possible to eat a gluten-free diet that only utilizes naturally gluten-free foods so that no specialty foods are required.  Some of my naturally gluten-free foods are:

  • quinoa
  • brown, wild or black rice
  • grits
  • fresh fruit
  • fresh veggies
  • salmon
  • chicken breast
  • almond butter
  • walnuts
  • wine
  • chocolate

I would love it if you all would share your gluten-free favorites of 2011!  If you have more than one, no worries, include them all!  There is nothing that I like more than chatting all things gluten-free.

While navigating the waters of becoming gluten-free, Kim shares her experiences and passes along valuable product reviews in addition to helping other moms of celiac kids develop healthy menus that are kid-friendly and palatable. Really liked the new crunchy cookies from Enjoy Life. The sugar cookie was good when we went camping…used in place of graham crackers for smores…it was great.

  2. Anne Steib says:

I will have to find the Schar parbaked baguettes. That would be great!

I must say a couple of my favorite gluten-free finds this year have been the corn pasta at Trader Joe’s, can’t beat $1.49! And the olive boule by a local company here in Atlanta, called Pure Knead. They are sold at a shop in my neighborhood, and I can’t get enough. They are also dairy-free, and delicious!

  3. Jo-Anne says:

Feel Good Foods dumplings are my favorite 2011 discovery. All of them, chicken, pork and vegetable. My son loves the shrimp ones and I can hardly wait for their egg rolls.
