Kinnikinnick is one of the first companies I learned about after starting the gluten-free diet. I had no idea what to eat or where to get it. The name that I kept hearing from different blogs, forums and employees at Whole Foods was “Kinnikinnick”. A side note for a minute – Whole Foods wasn’t even carrying their products yet, so I had to try to find them at Raisin Rack or order them online.
I believe the first product that I tried was the bagel. I had always loved bagels and needed to find a suitable replacement. While the bagels weren’t the same as non-gluten-free bagels, they were very good and quickly became a staple in my new diet. Next up were the frozen pizza crusts. I believe my lunches consisted of either tuna melts on the bagels or BLT pizzas on the crusts.
I didn’t sample the breads until much later and quickly became a fan of the Many Wonder Multigrain Rice Bread. The more products I tired, the more I liked. The doughnuts made me feel “normal”, the Kinni-Toos were a wonderful treat on a cold & dreary Ohio afternoon.
