Brazillian Market Offers Gluten Free Foods in Wheaton, Maryland

Thanks to a heads up from Eileen Simpson’s website, it looks like the Brazillian Market in Wheaton Maryland offers a lot of gluten free items.

The USA is way behind other countries with their labeling.  Go into most ethnic groceries and you will find clear labeling regarding gluten content.

In an earlier post, I posted the recipe for Pão de Queijo cheese bread.  This great market/cafe has them fresh baked.  The place is small, but the shelves are full of gluten free items.

Each label clearly states gluten content.  Cassava (tapioca) flour is a staple in South America and it is gluten free.  Many of the desserts are too.  The items are very inexpensive when compared to American stores.  I highly recommend the Yoki products.  Most are gluten free.

If you live or are visiting the Wheaton Maryland area, here is their address:

11425 Grandview Avenue
Wheaton, MD 20902
