Caribou Coffee is my favorite place to get coffee. As I wrote about here, Caribou has many seasonal drinks that are safe for those on the gluten-free diet to drink.
I have found that while Caribou doesn’t have any gluten-free food to offer “us”, they go above & beyond when it comes to customer service and providing gluten-free treats for us to drink. Every time I email them, which is roughly anytime they have a new product I want to try, they respond within 1 day and there is no confusion. The statements are clear. Keep in mind that anytime you choose to dine out (or drink in this case), there is a risk of cross-contamination.
I was in Caribou the other day getting my beloved cold press iced coffee and noticed that they have a Pumpkin Latte on the menu. I about squealed with delight, but chose to keep my wits about me until I could confirm the gluten-free status. I couldn’t get home fast enough to send that email. Now that I think about it, I am not sure why I felt the need to “rush” home, it wasn’t like I was going to head right back out and get a Pumpkin Latte. I do see one in my future very soon, though. This is the response that I received:
Kimberly,
Thanks so much for your email!
All of our flavor syrups (including pumpkin), coffee (including espresso) and milk are gluten free, so enjoy the pumpkin latte!
I hope this helps and please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
Thanks and have a great day!Lisa

I can’t tell you how thrilled I was!! After my huge disappointment regarding the Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks, it was nice to know that I can now have my treat! I did follow up with Starbucks to get the ingredient list for the pumpkin syrup, but still don’t feel comfortable drinking the latte. It seems like Starbucks has been nothing but difficult for the past year or so and I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
If there is no Caribou close to you, Whole Foods also makes a Pumpkin Spice latte, though I have not confirmed the gluten-free status of it. Whole Foods is very good about listing ingredients and not hiding anything on their labels. Additionally, if getting lattes out is not your thing, consider making them at home with the creamers on the market (both International Delight & Coffee-Mate have fall pumpkin versions).
