Cedarlane Introduces Gluten-free Omelets

When Cedarlane began labeling their Mexican Five Layer Dip gluten-free, it was quite exciting. I’d been enjoying the dip for about a year before the label change because I’d confirmed that no gluten ingredients were used in the product. After trying it myself and finding out it was safe enough for me to eat, I purchased it often and then one day the magic words “gluten-free” appeared on the box. Calling the company confirmed that nothing had changed about the ingredients. After confirming the product was in fact, gluten-free, the company decided to change the label so that gluten avoiders might try the product.

About a month ago I found the new Cedarlane gluten-free omelets but they were all made from only egg whites, so I decided not to purchase them. For whatever reason, I thought I’d eventually find a regular omelet that was made with the whole egg but Cedarlane doesn’t make such a product. However, for those of you who like egg white omelets, you might want to check out the new offerings. There are four types of egg white omelets and all of them are labeled gluten-free. All varieties are sold in Whole Foods and I saw one of the omelets in the freezer at Kroger.

The company recently reformulated their Enchilada Pie to be gluten-free by switching to a gluten-free soy sauce. This is an item I’ve been wanting to try and always thought it was odd that it contained soy sauce in the first place. In any case, I’ll be on the lookout for it because I’d like to see if it’s as fabulous as the Five Layer Mexican Dip.

Cedarlane offers a FREE shipping program but you have to buy a bulk order and there doesn’t seem to be a way to choose only gluten-free items. There is a way to change the selections but for instance, you much choose burritos and there are no gluten-free burritos from the company. Maybe in the future the company will consider putting a gluten-free bulk order together. Hopefully they will introduce even more gluten-free items and then it might make sense for them to create a gluten-free bulk order.

It’s getting hard to keep up with all the gluten-free items in stores these days but I try and go gluten-free product investigating every  other week so I can share my finds with our readers. If there is a new gluten-free product that you want to share with others, please leave a comment below.

  1. Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely be looking for the egg white omelets-I generally make an egg white casserole that lasts a week, but that would be a great go-to option to have in a pinch.
