In continuing with our series on eating gluten-free throughout Spain, in this post we will focus on the gluten-free restaurant options that are available in Madrid.
Basically for all the Spanish/Madrid Restaurants, you’ll find many restaurants are very accommodating. You’ll want to make sure to take your own bread, make sure the restaurant knows you are a Celiac and must have gluten-free cooking, then enjoy the gluten-free meal. Select a nice cold dry wine to go with the meal, ‘vino blanco del casa, muy seco’ (house dry white wine) ‘dulce’ (if you prefer sweet wine) or ’con agua sin gas’ (with ordinary bottled water).
- La Familiar Restaurante – Plaza de la Encina, 10-11, Tres Cantos, Tel 918063096. This restaurant offers special meals for families, at family prices, make sure you tell them “sin gluten”.
- Vegetarian Art Restaurante – Calle Fernan Gonzalez, 77, Madrid, Tel 914097722. This restaurant offers an English version of their menu, if you are looking at their web site, just click onto English, then they have lots of gluten-free dishes.
- Italien Chef – Calle Extremadura 18, Fueniabrada Tel 916060901. The Chef is Italian and understands the Celiaco disease, if you open their web site you can click onto, gluten-free and see what they have to offer, lots of dishes.
- MADRID – 20 Restaurante, Avenida de Madrid, 20, Navacerrada Tel 918428611 . A large restaurant with special menus for children, lots of rice (arroz) dishes with different combinations, make sure they are ”sin Gluten”.
- Nuevo El Jardin de las Mariposas, Restaurante-Teteria, Calle Poeta Esteban de Villegas, 18. This restaurant offers a special menu gluten-free menu. (comida para celiacos).
- Nuevo el Lagar de Algete, Restaurante-Sidreria, Calle Francisco Quevedo, No Number, Parque de Europa 2000, Algete, Tel 606413809, a good selection of gluten-free dishes.
- Nuevo el Meson de Fuencarral – Carretera de Colmenar Viejo, Km 14,500, Madrid Tel 917341019. Part of a European Group of Restaurants. Has been opened since 1932, it has a new and old section to the restaurant and also a large outside terrace. Good selection of gluten-free dishes.
- As de Bastos – Calle Dr.Bastos, 9, Majadehonda, Tel 916342256 . The menu has a special section for gluten-free eaters.
This is just a small selection of popular gluten-free restaurants found throughout Madrid. If you are looking for a lot more gluten-free restaurants in Madrid, make sure to ask the Concierge at your hotel for his advice (they typically are fluent in English).
