When we first launched Celiac-Disease.com a few months ago, it was done for a number of reasons. Though I personally have never been “officially” diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I have been on the gluten free diet and my family has a strong history of the disease. Over the last decade, my wife and I have accumulated a lot of knowledge about both Celiac Disease and living gluten free, so we figured this would be a great place to provide resources or whatever else we can do to help others in need.
In addition to the posts and other resources you’ve seen here, we’ve also been hard at work on building another resource which we hope will serve as a useful contribution to the Celiac community. As of today, it is finally ready to announce!
Celiac Network was designed to be a Celiac directory of sorts, helping people to find the resources they need to live a healthy and productive gluten free life. Currently the directory covers the following categories:
- Celiac & Gluten Free Resources
- Celiac & Gluten Free Blogs
- Celiac Support Groups
- Celiac & Gluten Free Forums
- Gluten Free Products
- Gluten Free Restaurants
In case you are not familiar with internet directories, here is how they work. If you have a website, blog, forum, or any type of web presence that fits into one of these categories, then you are encouraged to submit a link to the directory. Once your link is approved, it will create an inbound link to your website along with a brief description. When people come to Celiac Network looking for information, they will see your website. Over time, this should help increase your sites exposure and help those in need to find you. This is of course a completely free service. All we ask is that you toss a link to Celiac Network somewhere on your website to help increase its findability to those in need! It is not a requierment, but is greatly appreciated.
In addition to collecting links to excellent Celiac and Gluten Free Resources, Celiac Network also has the capability of serving as an article directory. If you’d like to submit an article about your website to the directory, you can do that as well. This will require you to sign up for a free account, but will help make your site more findable.
Are there any other internet tools you’d like to see? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll see what we can do to make it happen. Our goal here at Celiac-Disease.com is to provide you with the resources you need, so please let us know!

I am newly diagnosed with celiac disease and my dietician suggested I use this blog and ask for advice when I travel. I will be in Chicago in August and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for great GF restaurants in the heart of the city.
thanks!
Hi Lee Ann and welcome to the world of living gluten-free. It’s daunting at first but once you get the hang of it, avoiding gluten becomes second nature. And contrary to the belief of many doctors, we are not eating cardboard tasting foods these days. In fact, there are more great tasting foods than we know what to do with!
I’ve not been back to Chicago since I’ve been gluten-free, but there is a restaurant based there that has a location here (www.wildfirerestaurant.com). Our own Anne Steib writes a Chicago area blog http://www.glutenfreemusings.com and you can google “gluten free Chicago” to get a ton of restaurant review links and find the local support group site.
