Continuing Gluten-Free Eating Throughout the United Kingdom

Epsom, Surrey, UK is famous for it’s race course and of course Derby Day and Ladies day. If you happen to be in the United Kingdom then these are two occasions you should try to make. Then after watching the racing (or the ladies hats) what better than a fine restaurant?

You should try The Chalk Lane Hotel Restaurant. The hotel is nestled in a leafy corner of Epsom, Surrey, between the world famous racetrack and the Town Centre. The Chalk Lane restaurant offers an excellent menu, with a French Head Chef Vincent Hiss, so there is a French influence, to be found in the menu. The chef will cook gluten-free dishes and understands the need for gluten-free.

In Staine Street, Ockley, Surrey you will find one of  Southern England’s Premier Fish Restaurants, it is called Bryce’s Fresh Seafood & Fish Restaurant. Eating gluten-free is well catered for, with the seafood menu containing both subtle and elegant dishes, cooked under the daily care, of the owner Bill Bryce.

Continuing with fine Fish Restaurants, in Twickenham, Middlesex, which is the home of  British Rugby Union. Twickenham has one of the finest/famous Rugby Stadiums, in Europe, so after watching a great English game of Rugby, you can eat at The Loch Fyne Restaurant, at 175 Hampton Road, Twickenham, Middlesex.  This restaurant is part of a small group of Fine Fish Restaurants, who specialize in Oysters and Seafood, many of which come directly from their fishing port of Loch Fyne in Scotland. The menu is not set out with starters and main dishes, you simply select what you want and how you want it, with a good selection of gluten-free dishes.

Worked on computers for 35 years, then decided to quit the rat race so we all moved to Spain, to the Costa Del Sol for 20 years. Developed skin problems so returned to the UK in 2005, where my wife was diagnosed as suffering from the Celiac (UK Coeliac) disease. Found little local support, so created The Crawley Gluten Free Group, now with over 100 members and a free web site, now opened by 128 different countries.
