It is likely that most pharmacists are aware of Celiac Disease, but do they know about how many medications include gluten in them? Today I noticed a post from our friend Nancy over at About.com about an upcoming webinar that pharmacists can participate in and get Continued Learning Education (CLE) credits for! Unfortunately it is late notice, but there is still some time.
Here is an excerpt:
If you take prescription medications, you might want to let your pharmacist know that tomorrow, September 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Eastern Time), Stop & Shop Supermarkets and the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness will be hosting a free Webinar (a live conference broadcast over the internet) for pharmacists and other medical professionals on the topic of gluten in medications. The organizers promise that by the end of the program, participants will have learned about celiac disease and about ways that pharmacists and pharmaceutical manufacturers can help patients with celiac disease use medicines safely.
This webinar is sponsored by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Pharmacists who participate can get continuing education credits. Registration can be done online. Anyone with questions can call the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness at 215-692-2639.
I’ll definitely be calling my pharmacist in the morning to give them the heads up and if you have time, you may want to do the same. Thanks Nancy!
