Fourth of July the Gluten-Free Way

What are your plans for a gluten-free Fourth of July?  Cookouts can be hard to navigate if you aren’t at home.  If you will be heading out to celebrate, consider making a gluten-free dish to share.  Otherwise, here are some great gluten-free cookout ideas:

Simple and easy – watermelon, feta and blueberries.

When I start to think too hard about something, I tend to get stressed and feel overwhelmed.  One of the best parts about the Fourth of July holiday is that it is in the middle of the summer and the temperature is typically very warm or hot.  Fresh, cold fruit, homemade lemonade and Jell-O are all acceptable cookout fare and they are all simple to prepare and very refreshing.

What is your favorite gluten-free Fourth of July dish or recipe?

We love to make homemade ice cream and usually grill out. Our son’s birthday is July 3rd so we always make a great deal out of this holiday for two reasons! 🙂 Since we are celebrating his birthday the day before, or sometimes on the 4th, we are usually making a cake. Therefore, I have a GF cake to go along with our ice cream. His two favorites are my chocolate and strawberry cakes. By the way, love the blueberry, feta and watermelon idea! Got to have that this year.
