Fresh 2 Order Offers Tasty Gluten-free Menu

menu-img5Fresh 2 Order is a small regional restaurant chain that has an interesting gluten-free menu. There are six locations in Metro Atlanta and one in Chattanooga, TN. The concept of the place is that you can get fresh, quality food meals quickly. The meals run around $10 for lunch or dinner as the menu is the same all day.

The company consulted with some medical professionals regarding celiac disease and the gluten-free diet, prior to introducing their gluten-free menu. They really seem to have done their homework in terms of gluten-free service, especially for a lower price point restaurant.

I’m not suggesting you give the order taker at the register a quiz on what gluten is. They are not making your food and don’t necessarily come across as understanding much about the gluten-free menu. The people that are making your food do seem to have a handle on gluten-free service at three locations I’ve eaten at, or had reports about from dinner club members.

This company mission statement is one I can really respect:

Our Food, Our Promise: We hope that you will notice with all your senses the freshness and quality of every ingredient we put into our products from our lettuces and vegetables to our proteins and sauces, soups, teas and coffees. They taste and look different and better because they are. Sure it costs us more, but we trust that our guests will notice that we are a different and fresher alternative in dining; this in turn makes our investment in our products worthwhile. We hope you enjoy……… if not, please let us know and we will make it right.

What I love about Fresh 2 Order is that the food really is excellent and none of the meals on the gluten-free menu are boring. Even the salads are interesting. My favorite is the Mediterranean with Lime Shrimp. The Brown Sugar Roasted Pork Loin with Apricot Chutney is quite tasty and a perfect Fall weather meal!

It would be nice if Fresh 2 Order would add some gluten-free soups to the menu soon. Soup is something many people miss when dining out and gluten-free versions are fairly hard to come by in Metro Atlanta. They could easily offer a safe potato or chicken and rice soup.

There are no gluten-free desserts at Fresh 2 Order but the meals are hearty enough that you might not have room for dessert anyway. Their portion sizes are generous and the food is fairly nutritious, making it very satisfying indeed.

If the company does add some soups or anything new to their gluten-free menu, it would be nice for them to print the descriptions and pricing on the gluten-free menus. When dining at one of the many chains with gluten-free menus where you have to cross reference two menus to order, you are at least sitting at a table. At Fresh 2 Order you are standing in front of a register and have to read the gluten-free menu and then check the ”normal” menu for descriptions and pricing. That’s the only downside to eating there, in my opinion.

Gluten-free vegetarians will have no trouble eating at Fresh 2 Order as the salads don’t come with meat or seafood on them. You order the protein only if you want it. The mashed potatoes and sweet mashed potatoes are perfect gluten-free side dishes but you can also get fresh veggies.

Let us know if you’ve been to Fresh 2 Order and if so, what your favorite dish is.

My favorite meal is the brown sugar pork loin with the sweet mashed potatoes – yum! It definitely tastes “fresh” and like home made.

  2. Yes! Next time you go in, ask for gf soup and see what they say. I’m determined to be able to have safe soup there by the time cold weather hits!
