Recently I posted and article listing my favorite gluten-free pastas which include the quinoa/rice pasta from Andean Dream. We discovered the pasta earlier this year but only recently found out that the company also makes cookies!
I’m really not the cookie person in our house and prefer the “pop in the oven and bake type” when I have them. When I buy ready made cookies, I’m usually using them for a pie crust. Gluten-free ginger snaps work great for lemon bars and “Oreo” type cookies are perfect for chocolate peanut butter pie.
Well, now I have a wonderful new cookie to use for a pie crust and an occasional snack. Andean Dream Quinoa Cookies are both gluten-free and vegan. They are all natural and contain no trans fats, dairy products, soy or cholesterol. And as if that wasn’t enough, they are produced in a nut free facility as well!
What I really love about the Coconut cookies, besides the very “coconut-y” flavor is the fact that they are individually wrapped. This is one of my favorite features of any snack these days. I always have shelf stable food with me, so I never have to buy candy and chips when no other safe options are around.
Andean Dream cookies are perfect with hot tea as a mid afternoon snack. We tried two other flavors as well – Orange Essence and Raisin Spice. Those are a little crunchier than I prefer but they work well for “dunking” into hot tea. The cookie monster in the house and I both preferred the orange flavor best between the two. The flavors we did not try are Chocolate-Chip and Cocoa-Orange.
Many gluten-free replacement foods – like cookies – are not the healthiest things around. For those that want something different, Andean Dream cookies are nice option to have. One serving is two cookies which contains 4% of the RDA of both fiber and protein – not too shabby – for a cookie anyway.
Andean Dreams uses only Royal Quinoa from Bolivia for both their cookies and pasta. If you don’t know much about quinoa (I’d never heard of it before my celiac diagnosis), check out this information from the company’s website:
Classified as a ‘supercrop’ by the United Nations for its high protein content, quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids, making it an unusually complete food.
We’ve spun this healthy, golden grain into our Andean Dream Quinoa Cookies, made with organic Royal Quinoa, which is grown only in the Bolivian Andes, at an altitude of 13,000 feet, which produces the finest quality quinoa in the world.
Note: Andean Dream pasta is now available in Return to Eden in Atlanta but the cookies are not available locally.
Have you tried these cookies or the Andean Dream pasta before? If so, please let us know where you found them in the comments below!

These cookies rock!! I got some sent to me last year in a care package & ate them all by myself! HAH!
Hi Kim – thanks for stopping by! I know….I love all things coconut and many people avoid it due to the fat content. After reading about how good it is for you I think the positives outweigh the negatives by far! I do try and eat all my delicious gluten-free goodies in moderation but that’s easier said than done! Have a great labor day!.
