Continuing with our trip around the United Kingdom, in this post we will go south of London to Surrey in search of good restaurants that will offer you a reasonable to good selection of gluten-free cooking and with management who understands the needs of someone who with celiac disease. If you are driving around in Surrey, then The Hurtwood Inn Hotel, can be found in a small village at, Walking Bottom, Peaslake, Guildford, Surrey. It is ideally placed and you can stay the night. It was built around 1920 and it stands in the perfect English village of Peaslake. It is close to Leith Tower (the South of England’s highest point, with breathtaking views). The hotel’s bar and restaurant have been recently refurbished and they offer a fine menu selection, including a number of gluten-free dishes, together with fine wines and ales.
The Whitehart & Redroom Restaurant, at Hazelwood Lane, Chipstead, Surrey, offers a fine menu, with excellent gluten-free meals, along with real ale.
The Blue Bell is Farnhams best kept secret! It’s at Batts Corner, Dockenfield, Farnham, Surrey. This is a family run country pub which aims to produce the best home made food in the area, served in a warm friendly atmosphere. The pub is set in 2 acres of peaceful countryside surrounded by lots of public rambling and walking routes. In winter it has a real log fire. The home made food menu includes a number of gluten-free dishes, all is freshly prepared and on Sunday you have a choice of 2 roasts as well as the regular pub menu.
