Gluten-free Foods from Fantastic World Foods

ffsoupcupFromIDDid you know that Fantastic World Foods has a lot of gluten-free products that are sold at mainstream grocery stores? And the prices are in line with other quality mainstream products on the shelves. So, you can buy gluten-free marked items without breaking the bank!

My first introduction to the company’s gluten-free offerings was their Orignal Hummus. It is vegan, kosher, gluten-free, yeast free and contains no trans fat. And it’s also all natural! This is a basic plain hummus but you can get creative and easily make flavored hummus with it.

For red pepper hummus - puree roasted red peppers (from a jar) and add them to the plain hummus.  If you prefer to roast your own peppers that works too. Either way – it’s super simple and simply delicious! This is assuming that you love red peppers. Adding pesto sauce to plain hummus makes a very interesting dish as well.

If you need a portable soup that’s safe – look for the Fantastic World Foods  soup cups. You don’t even need a bowl to make these great soups. You just need either boiling water or a microwave and a spoon. These are great for a quick lunch when visiting friends or family.

The Baha Black Bean soup is gluten-free and cholesterol free as well! It also contains a good source of your daily iron, fiber (watch out it’s 40% RDA!) and Vitamin A. My favorite soup cup flavor is the Creamy Potato Leek.

These soups are essential when I’m traveling. They are lightweight, easy to pack and delicious! Not all the products from Fantastic World Foods are gluten-free. In fact, most are not. Be sure to read the label for their “gluten-free” marking, which is easy to find if present.

Fantastic Foods does not maintain a gluten-free list on their website any unfortunately, not all their gluten-free items are indicated as such on the site. The soups I have in my house are clearly marked gluten-free, yet this is not indicated on their site at present. I think only three of the soup cups are gluten-free.

The company’s flavored rices (Arborio, Jasmine, Basmati) are listed as gluten-free on the website. Since ingredients do change it’s best to always read the package in the store for the gluten-free notation.

On thing I have not tried yet is their new Simmer Soup. Only one of those is  gluten-free – the Blarneystone Creamy Potato Soup. Now that sounds like the perfect Fall soup for us. I’ll add add some cheese and maybe even some bacon. Adding in extras helps you create a semi-homemade soup that’s suited to just your taste.

Have you tried the gluten-free items from Fantastic World Foods before? If so, please tell us what your favorite is in the comments below.  Has anyone out there tried the gluten-free Simmer Soup yet?
