Go Picnic Offering Discount on Gluten-free Meals!

In a recent post about items worth ordering online, I included Go Picnic in the list. For those not familiar with the Chicago area based company, they sell shelf stable meals and snacks. The term “gluten-free lunchables” describes the gluten-free offerings fairly well. Regular lunchable meals all contain gluten so gluten-free kids can’t enjoy them. It’s nice that Go Picnic comes to the rescue with nutritionally dense meals and snacks that will sustain anyone in need of protein and carbs, when safe food options are not available.

In addition to gluten free options, there are also kosher, vegan and vegetarian choices. They offer products for those with no dietary restrictions as well. Each category is clearly listed on their website and each product is labeled on the front of the box. By clicking on each individual product, you can see every item that comes in that box. Though my primary goal is making sure my food is gluten free, all Go Picnic products don’t contain some other things that I personally try to avoid as well. They are free of MSG, trans fats and artificial flavors and colors. This is great news for health conscious shoppers, with or without dietary restrictions.

My personal favorites from the line up are the Explore Munch and Zesty Break packs. Before I tried these products I had never heard of Surf Sweets gummy bears. They contain no corn syrup and are quite addictive. I’ve yet to try the Wild Salmon with Vegetables but have read rave reviews of it. That might be why it seems to be sold out a lot. Everything from Go Picnic is shelf stable and if a spoon or fork is needed a spork is even included. All you need to add is a drink. The only way these items could be better is if they were on the shelf at my local grocery store!

Excerpt from Go Picnic website –

Our son has special dietary needs and hated bringing his “boring lunch” to school. Everyone else had such cool things in their lunch (full of sugar, preservatives, no natural anything, a paragraph of ingredients–that’s me talking not him). He was so excited when a friend gave us one of these. When I picked him up from school he had a huge smile on his face. Every kid in the lunchroom thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen. Thanks GoPicnic for making lunchtime delicious, nutritious and cool!

During a vacation in South Florida last May, I put the gluten-free Go Picnic snacks and meals to the test. The cheese items in the meals hold up great as long as you don’t leave them in a hot car for hours on end. The turkey pepperoni, crackers, dried apricots, gummi bears, applesauce and mini dark chocolate bar were all fabulous!  There is always FREE shipping on orer of $99 or more so if you need some gluten-free items and some other items for gluten eating family members, stock up to take advantage of the Go Picnic shipping deal.

If you’re living gluten free, be sure to give these great products a try. To make it worth your while, Go Picnic is offering a 20% discount on all orders through February 20th, 2010. Just enter the code GLUTENFREE when checking out. Special thanks Dave at Go Picnic for making this offer to our readers!
