We just returned from traveling in Italy. Everyone in our party was having fries at this very nice restaurant. They wouldn't serve me because of cross contamination. Then the chef came out and said he would prepare some in "olive oil" just for me. I thought this was very nice. They also had gluten free pasta there!!!

Amy, *most* fast food restaurants fries and hash browns are naturally gluten-free. The problem is that they don't use dedicated fryers which leads to cross-contamination (onion rings, fried foods and such are done in the same fryers).

Right now the gluten-free diet is to uncommon for a restaurant to take notice, but as Celiac diagnosis continues to rise, and some people follow the gluten-free diet for their own reasons, this may change in the future.

Restaurants are starting to adjust and make accomodations as the demand grows, and I expect fast food establishments will do the same once the demand is there!.

We have a Hardee's that is on my way to work. The breakfast bowl is outstanding!!!
I just wish that someone in the fast food industry would come up with gluten free fries and hash browns. That would be wonderful!!
