Hershey’s Releases List of Gluten-Free Products

I am sure that some of you may be running around doing some last minute shopping since Easter is tomorrow.  Well, I have some great news – Hershey’s has finally released a list of their gluten-free products!  This list seems like it has been a long time coming.  Over the years I have heard many different things from Hershey’s about the gluten-free status of their products.  The statuses ranged from a list when I first started the diet, to all gluten will be clearly labeled, to only a few products were actually gluten-free.  I can’t tell you how much it pleases me that they have put a list on their website for customers to access so they can enjoy their candy.

Here is the list as it is printed on the Hershey’s website:

For your convenience, the current products listed below have been fully evaluated and qualify as gluten free using standards proposed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Please note this list is not all inclusive as we have other gluten-free confections.

The best way to determine if our products contain a gluten ingredient is to read our product label. This label includes an accurate, current listing of the ingredients in our products. Because, on occasion, the list of ingredients can change, we strongly encourage you to check the ingredient label on the package each time before you make a purchase.

It is nice to see the variety of baking chips, especially the butterscotch, as some other brands on the market contain barley malt.  Make sure to note that the seasonal shaped Reese’s peanut butter cups are not on the gluten-free list.  The gluten should be listed on the label, as I know that I have seen it in the past on the Halloween versions.

Do you have a favorite Hershey’s product?

Its nice that they did this, but honestly many of those items made my hildren EXTREMELY sick with Lauren contamination. Hershey seems to have a massive cross problem :/

Why don’t your company mark all your Gluten Free candy on the wrapers? Please add “Gluten Free” if the candy is gluten free so we don’t have to guess…

This is a good start, but it would be nice it they included their seasonal items on the list, especially right before Easter. I’ve been searching all over for a GF chocolate bunny!
