Joan’s GF Greatbakes products – at least some of them – have finally arrived in Atlanta! For over three years I have ordered from the New York state gluten-free bakery. Ordering with friends helped keep the shipping costs reasonable. Did you ever have an Egg McMuffin at McDonald’s? If so, you know what Joan’s English muffins taste like. Yes, they taste like REAL English muffins – not sort of like – not pretty much like – just like the real deal. It should be said that they taste NOTHING like any of the other gluten-free English muffins on the market in the U.S. presently – to this reviewer anyway. Having said that, please keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, of course. Even so, there are about ten items that I’ve recommended to many people over the last few years, that every single person that tried them also loved. Joan’s bagels and English muffins are two of the ten products that I’m batting 1000 on.
As fabulous as Joan’s products are, for me, the bagels are the star of the show in Joan’s line up. The bagels are not just great gluten-free bagels – they are simply the best bagels I’ve ever had. My husband isn’t a big bagel fan no matter what ingredients are in them – he was never a fan of bagels of any kind. Even so, when I recreated a Cinnamon Crunch bagel (from Panera) with Joan’s Cinnamon Raisin bagels, he wanted me to make him a second one. This kind of surprised me, but then I remembered that the only bagel he’d ever liked was the Cinnamon Crunch from Panera.
Finally, after begging Joan’s GF Greatbakes to come to Atlanta – literally for over three years – the company notified me recently that they were coming to Return to Eden, a health food store in Atlanta. I nearly fell out of my chair – the news was welcomed yet shocking at the same time. Just last week someone I order Joan’s with asked if I wanted to go in on an order as usual, but I didn’t need anything as I’m all stocked up right now on fabulous bagels, English muffins and Italian bread. Nor do I have room for more food in my freezers presently. Now my friend can just pick up what she needs without having to pay for two day shipping charges. When my stock gets a little low, I’ll be stocking up on Joan’s great items as well.
Presently, Return to Eden is stocking Joan’s Plain and Everything bagels, English muffins and Italian bread loaves. To find out if Joan’s terrific products are coming to your area, be sure to follow Joans GF on Twitter. While I certainly hope Joan’s exceptional products remain available in a store here, as long as Joan makes her great gluten-free products, I personally will not be caught without them. If that means buying them locally or ordering online, I’ve got to have my Joan’s. Her products are simply that fabulous!
