This year, the Chinese New Year, the year of the horse, falls on January 31, 2014. Molly Woo’s, an Asian Bistro and Cameron Mitchell restaurant in Columbus (Ohio), is celebrating the Chinese New Year January 21, 2014 – February 14, 2014 with a special three-course menu.
The three-course menu includes choice of appetizer, choice of entree and choice of dessert. There are gluten-free options available in both the appetizer and entree categories While the dessert category doesn’t list a gluten-free option, I checked with the restaurant and they are happy to offer a gluten-free creme brûlée or sorbet in place of the non-gluten-free choices. The celebratory menu is a great deal at $21.99.
Molly Woo’s offers a wide variety of gluten-free options, which include tofu for the vegetarian/vegan diners. Many of the “off limits” sauces have been recreated to be gluten-free to allow for expanded options. One of the stand out options is the Shrimp Pad Thai (pictured above and offered on the Chinese New Year Celebration menu). The dish is full of flavor and pizazz!
