As I discover new shops open up which are dedicated to being gluten free, I will be mentioning them here on Celiac Disease. One recent shop I noticed was a new one called My Gluten Free Bakery located in Jefferson City, Missouri.
The Fulton Sun recently featured their shop, which can be seen here:
Store owner LaVerne Frederick, who has a love for baking, opened My Gluten Free Bakery last November to help others, who, like her, have celiac disease.
Frederick was diagnosed with the disease a little more than a year ago and her father also had the condition. After his death in July 2008, she decided to open the bakery in honor of him.
Frederick began making the gluten-free products, but has since branched out her specialty to include making cupcakes, cakes, cookies and more for people with other special dietary needs.
Knowing the importance of making sure not to cross contaminate or include a byproduct that her client is allergic to, Frederick keeps cards on all of her clients.
