New York City is one of the most exciting cities in the world. In fact, some people say that all other cities pale in comparison. When it comes to gluten-free dining, it’s hard to find better offerings in the U.S. than are found in the Big Apple. The pizza offerings alone are enough to make a grown gluten-free man cry – and the pizza joint Risoterria in Greenwich Village has proven that point a few times!
The gluten-free community in NYC is understandably huge, and that is why they have so many great choices when it comes to dining out there. There is power in numbers, and the New York gluten-free community seems to growing weekly. From S’MAC to Mozarellis to Everybody Eats – New Yorkers have it going on!
Tomorrow, a particularly special event is happening in the city that never sleeps. There is a book signing party for Cake Wrecks, a hilarious blog that became a book. Wouldn’t you know that the gluten-free set is getting to enjoy gluten-free cake at the event. There was always going to be a gluten cake for the event guests to enjoy but somewhere along the way, a gluten-free cake was added to the mix.
The owners of the bakery Jacy Cakes LLC, are fans of the blog turned book, offered to supply gluten-free cake for those who otherwise would not be able to partake in the cake eating part of the event. The Celiac Disease Meetup Group event details actually state “come early because the gluten-free cake only serves 100”! How fabulous does that sound? Kudos to Jacy Cakes LLC for stepping up for this exciting event. Those gluten-free New Yorkers really take the cake! Please pardon the pun but I could not resist.
Jacy Cakes LLC offers gluten-free, egg-free, sugar-free and vegan cakes in additional to traditional cakes. The flavor and filling choices for each type can be found on the alternative diet section of their website. This bakery is happy to accomodate customers with special dietary needs, which is not always the case when talking about hoity toity bakeries.
Jacy Cakes LLC website excerpt: Celiac disease is a very serious and restricting condition, but it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your favorite indulgences! Jacy Cakes offers many different flavors of gluten-free cakes and fillings to satisfy all of your wheat-free desires!

By working together, the New York gluten-free crowd continues to affect positive change in their community. No matter where you live, or how small your own gluten-free group might be, you can affect change in your own community as well. When the Celiac Disease Meetup Group first starting meeting, they went to places in New York that could not even feed them. They’ve obviously come a long way since then, and inspire the rest of us to follow suit!
Special thanks to Erin Smith who runs the Celiac Disease Meetup Group in NYC and writes the super informative blog, Gluten-Free Fun!

I love Risotteria. I used to go there often when I lived there, and that was before I was gluten-free. Risotto is my favorite food!!
And, Risotteria is much more than pizza, they have pasta, risotto, salads and baked goods.
I know! They even had pound cake and a black and white cookie when we were there! I had left over pizza for breakfast in the hotel one morning! Pesto pizza with thin crispy crust….to die for! Oddly, our breadsticks were cold so we were not impressed by them but we had so much food we didn’t ask for fresh ones. We did not have Risotto however. Will have to try next visit!
