NFCA Webinar: Food as Medicine for Celiac Disease: Nutrition Beyond the Gluten-Free Diet

The NFCA (National Foundation for Celiac Awareness) is a wonderful resource for those with Celiac Disease or following the gluten-free diet.  To help kick off the new year, they will be offering another webinar January 25, 2012 about the gluten-free diet.

Join NFCA as Rachel Begun, MS, RD, also known as The Gluten Free RD and one of NFCA’sAsk the Dietitian bloggers, and a member of NFCA’s Scientific/Medical Advisory Board, explores how “food as medicine,” a central component of the growing prevention and wellness paradigm, can be used in the management of celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. The use of “food as medicine” brings to light the important role of nutrition in preventing, treating and even reversing illness.

I think this will be an excellent learning experience!  I have often said that food can be used to prevent illness and can’t wait to hear what Rachel has to say.  The gluten-free diet isn’t just about replacing those foods that you have lost; this is your chance to pay close attention to the food that goes into your body and get the most nutritional bang for your buck.  There is a special feature for this webinar: participants will have the ability to submit their questions to Rachel for answering after attending the live event.  Questions will be accepted until January 27, 2012 at Noon EST.  This webinar is sponsored by Blue Diamond Almonds & Cabot Cheese.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 8:30 PM EST.  There is no cost, but registration is required.  Won’t be near your computer?  If you have an iPhone, iPad or iTouch, you can join the meeting on-the-go by downloading the “GoToMeeting” app for free.  Make sure to register as you will need to link or the meeting ID from the email to join.  If you miss this webinar, no worries, archived webinars can be viewed here.
