We all know that following a gluten-free diet can be challenging, especially in the beginning. There are certain to be times when frustration sets in and you want to throw in the towel, but you can’t, as the gluten-free diet is the only treatment currently available for Celiac Disease. How are you supposed to stay vigilant? Motivated? Compliant? By arming yourself (family members and friends, too) with as much information as possible. The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) is an invaluable resource for those with Celiac Disease.
The NFCA offers webinars on all things Celiac and gluten-free on a regular basis. These webinars are a great way to educate yourself and stay on top of the newest information regarding Celiac Disease and the gluten-free diet. The next webinar is scheduled for the end of January.
Topic: Rising Above the Noise: How to Stay Empowered & Live Authentically on a Gluten-Free Diet
Date: Thursday, January 30, 2014
Time: 8:30 p.m. EST/5:30 p.m. PST
Speakers: Francie Rawlings and Amy Jones, MS, RD
A gluten-related disorder diagnosis brings many waves of change into a person’s life. Significant education, motivation and determination are required to successfully adjust to and maintain a strict gluten-free diet, today’s only treatment for celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders. Family dinners, social gatherings, dining out and travel are just some of the areas that will be forever changed. In situations like these, it is vital that patients become comfortable with speaking up for themselves and taking control when needed. Join NFCA as we take an innovative look at how facing limiting beliefs and being your authentic self can help to improve acceptance of and adherence to the gluten-free diet. Panelists will share how you can stay true to yourself while following this medically necessary diet.
While I have not heard of Francie Rawlings, I have personally met Amy Jones and am thrilled that she is speaking for this event! The registration link for this webinar should be live on the NFCA Webinar page soon. If you are unable to attend the webinar, there will be a recording and slides on the NFCA archives page within 72 hours.
