Product Review: Clean Cravings Products

Every now & then I come across a product review or an ad for a product that I have never heard of before. This was the case just a few weeks back when I first heard of Clean Cravings. Usually I hear and see all kinds of information about products before reviewing them, but surprisingly, that was not the case this time. My curiosity was piqued and I couldn’t wait to try these products. I received complimentary samples of several of the Clean Cravings products: Perfectly Pesto Pizza, Just Crusts and Just Crusts Minis in original & rosemary.

The pesto pizza was like heaven on a plate! I love pesto, so this was a home run with me. The thin crust cooked up perfectly and I would never have know that it was gluten-free if I hadn’t known better. I loved the added touch of pine nuts on this pizza – they are probably my favorite pizza & salad topping.

I made the above pizza for Jon with an original Just Crusts, Prego Three Cheese sauce, mozzarella and Hormel Pepperoni. As per usual, Jon gushed & gushed about how good it was. The kid is super easy to read, just like a stoplight. Green is the best thing he has ever tasted; Yellow can be described as edible, but not the best; Red is gross and he won’t eat it. This was a definite green in his book. 😉

Clean Cravings was founded by Shelley Malone. Shelley was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis shortly after her daughter was born. After trying an anti-inflammatory diet, she discovered she felt much better, yet was still struggling to find “clean”, convenient & delicious food to eat. Shelley turned her frustration into action and Clean Cravings was born.

Clean Cravings products are free of:

  • Gluten

  • Soy

  • Dairy

  • Corn

  • Yeast

  • Sugar

  • Peanuts
  • The products are also vegan and are mostly organic. I found the following information on the Clean Cravings site in regards to being organic:

While our crusts are not 100% Organic, they do contain the following organic ingredients: Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic Raw Agave Nectar and Organic Olive Oil. Our pizzas are approximately 70% organic – using the same organic ingredients as in the crusts as well as organic ingredients for all produce ingredients used for the sauces and used for toppings.

Clean Cravings products can be purchased online in their store or on The Gluten-Free Mall. They are now located in Treasure Island Foods in Chicago, IL (a 7-store chain), Chase Foods in Jacksonville, FL, and Global Cardio Care in Los Angeles, CA. They should be arriving in other stores across the US soon. To keep up on current news make sure to follow Clean Cravings on Facebook .

***In the spirit of full disclosure, I received these products free of charge from Clean Cravings to sample & review. The views & opinions in this post are mine and were not influenced by anyone or anything.

That’s so funny, Kim. I too, just stumbled onto info about this line last week. I’ve seen other rave reviews of these pizzas online so hopefully I’ll get to try them eventually.
