Back in 2007, I read a rave review of Joan’s GF Greatbakes English Muffins. I ordered some straight away, along with some of Joan’s famous gluten-free bagels. Since then, my favorite bagels and English muffins have been the ones from Joan’s. It should be noted that the bagels and English muffins in the line are two things that everyone I’ve ever recommended them to has raved about. I have a pretty good track record for recommending gluten-free products, but nothing compares to products from Joan’s GF Greatbakes when it comes to my ‘batting average’.
My favorite story about Joan’s bagels is the one where a gluten-free speaker, Rory Jones, recounted a story about a little girl who’d grown up eating gluten-free. The child knew nothing of what gluten bread items tasted like. She was given a Joan’s bagel and replied “it’s good, but it doesn’t taste like a bagel.” Of course, the people who tried the bagels who remembered what “real” bagels tasted like flipped out over the authentic taste of the bagels from Joan’s.
For some lucky reason, I usually get to sample new products from Joan’s before they hit the market. This makes me a very happy gluten-free camper indeed! Several weeks ago, when a box from Joan’s arrived on the front stoop, I could not wait to see what surprises awaited inside. I reviewed the new Crumb Cake (which was in the box) from Joan’s here. It’s so good it’s ridiculous!

Next up for review are the new Multi Grain English Muffins. I’ve got to admit that I never thought I’d find an item that I preferred over the regular English muffins from Joan’s GF Greatbakes. However, the new Multi Grain English Muffins changed my mind about that. The new, healthier version of English muffins from Joan’s totally rocked my world!
What’s really strange to me is that when it came to gluten breads, I would run as far away as possible from anything noted to be multi-grain or 7-grain or anything like that. In fact, we use to visit some people out of town who always served very dense and well – simply awful gluten bread. I’d always take my own soft gluten bread and say it was going to go bad if I left it at home and I didn’t want it to go to waste. I would do anything to avoid eating cardboard tasting bread – even in my gluten eating days.
With 12% of the RDA of fiber in each English muffin, the new item from Joan’s GF Greatbakes is not only delicious, it’s actually healthy! Those folks that keep saying that gluten-free replacement items are devoid of anything that’s good for us are going to have to rethink their statements about our diet. The whole wheat English muffins from Thomas’s have the exact amount of fiber as the multi grain version from Joan’s and it has only 20 less calories to boot. Take that Dr. Oz!
Like the other English muffins from Joan’s, the new version works great for breakfast sandwiches or just toasted with butter and honey or jam on it. For an afternoon snack, toast one half of a muffin and slather it with your favorite nut butter. The number of wonderful things you can do with these fabulous English muffin is practically endless!
*The product reviewed above were provided to me at no charge by Joan’s GF Greatbakes. As always, my opinions are my own and have not been influenced by any outside sources.

At $8 for 4, Joan can keep them. I don’t care how good they are
These sound great! You know I am a huge fan of Joan’s! I have to check out the crumb cake, too!
Alan – while it is not always the case, I find the cheaper gf foods are, the worse they taste. Joan’s products can stand up to non gf foods in terms of taste and texture so I think the products are worth every penny. That said, I don’t consume them on a regular basis so in the end, it’s not that expensive overall.
