NuGo Nutrition makes a wide variety of gluten-free bars, but for this post, I am going to focus on just one: NuGo Dark Mint Chocolate Chip. I recently shared my thoughts on two of the other NuGo Dark protein bars, so when I found the mint variety in the store, I couldn’t wait to try it. I also heard through the Twittervine that if you kept these bars in the refrigerator they tasted just like Thin Mint cookies kept in the refrigerator. Sign me up!
Let me be the first to tell you that this bar was nothing short of fantastic! I was absolutely giddy after taking my first bite! NuGo shared this comparison to the new Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Thin Mint Candy Bar (not gluten-free):
Nothing I love more than something that tastes good being good for me! I have used these bars to refuel after running or cut in half for a small sweet treat after lunch or dinner.
Indulge in NuGo Dark’s crisp, minty treat! NuGo Dark’s newest REAL Dark Chocolate creation is the refreshing year round alternative to thin mint cookies, with all the benefits of a protein bar.
Ingredients: DARK CHOCOLATE (UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE, SUGAR, COCOA BUTTER), SOY CRISP (SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, TAPIOCA, CALCIUM CARBONATE), TAPIOCA SYRUP, AGAVE SYRUP, CHOCOLATE RICE CRISP (RICE FLOUR, SUGAR, ALKALIZED COCOA, SALT, SOY LECITHIN, COCOA, SOYBEAN OIL), SOY PROTEIN, ALKALIZED COCOA, BROWN RICE FLOUR, NATURAL FLAVOR, PEPPERMINT EXTRACT AND GUM ACACIA.
Another bonus? These bars are 4 for $5.00 regularly at my local Giant Eagle grocery store and will often go on sale for 5 for $5.00. They are a very reasonably priced protein bar. To see where you can find NuGo Dark bars close to you, go to the main page and look towards the bottom for a store locator.
Have you tried any of the gluten-free NuGo bars? If so, which one(s)?
