Review: Orgran Animal Cookies

Jon often comes home from school starving and on the hunt for snacks.  Even though he will be turning 16 in a couple of weeks, he still eats like a child when it comes to his likes & dislikes.  He would probably be upset with me for sharing this, but I am going to take my chances.  Animal cookies are an easy snack for him to grab and head off to where he has to be.

Orgran is a company that has been manufacturing gluten-free products for a number of years for gluten-free people around the world.  In addition to being gluten-free, Orgran products are also free of dairy, egg and GMOs.  Some of the products they offer include:

  • Outback Animals kids line
  • Pasta
  • Cereal
  • Crackers
  • Cookies
  • Baking mixes

The Outback Animals cookies come in both vanilla & chocolate varieties.  Jon tried the vanilla cookies this time around, but has asked for the chocolate next time.

Orgran Outback Animals Vanilla Cookies is a fun product made with natural gluten free ingredients. This product is rich in complex carbohydrates and has the added benefit of psyllium for extra dietary fibre and calcium carbonate as a source of non dairy calcium. This product is produced without the addition of dairy, eggs, nuts, soy or gluten and contains over 12% dietary fibre.

Maize starch, Raw sugar, Brown rice flour, Palm vegetable oil, Rice syrup, Pea flour, Psyllium (2%), Raising agent: Sodium bicarbonate, Calcium carbonate (source of calcium), Vegetable gum: Guar, Emulsifier: monoglycerides from vegetable, Natural vanilla flavour(0.2%), Salt.

I am going to go out on a limb here and tell you that Jon loved these since the box disappeared in one sitting.  He actually came to see if we had another box in the pantry.  No gluten-free food is safe in a house with a 16-year old Celiac boy.

Orgran products are available all over the world!  They can be purchased in many of your local grocery or health food stores or online.

Have you tried either variety of the Orgran Animal Cookies?  What did you think?
