Review: Orgran Wild Raspberry Fruit Filled Cookies

When I was a little girl I loved Fig Newtons.  As I got a little older, Fig Newtons became fruit-filled and the apple and raspberry flavors were quickly added to the list of cookies that I loved.  There aren’t many gluten-free versions of these cookies, so when I came across Orgran’s Wild Raspberry Fruit Filled Biscuits, I had to see how they measured up.

They sure look good, don’t they?  As you can see above, the cookies are gluten and dairy-free.  More about the cookies:

Orgran Wild Raspberry Flavoured fruit filled biscuits are filled with 40% fruit content and are made just for you. Delicious natural gluten free goodness that are totally irresistible, but why resist? Take a bite into the baked shortcrust biscuit casing and you will discover the delights of the soft fruit filling and the fresh juicy flavours that will tantalise your tastebuds.

Ingredients: Sultanas(Raisins) (38.5%), Chick pea flour, tapioca flour, Vegetable palm oil, Castor sugar, Golden syrup(sugar syrup), raspberries(1.5%), Natural flavours, Natural Colour, Xanthan gum, Raising agent – Sodium bicarbonate, Antioxidant – Vit E

The real question is – how do they measure up, right?  While they aren’t identical to what I remember, they are similar.  The cookie is a little crumbly, but the filling has a great raspberry flavor without being overly sweet.  I really like that they have real fruit (raisins and raspberries) in the filling.  They make a great snack with a cup of tea in the afternoon!

Orgran’s Wild Raspberry cookies can be purchased online and in many health food stores across the US and internationally.  Have you tried these cookies?  What did you think?
