Review: Pepperidge Farm Baked Naturals Tortilla Chips

Nothing satisfies me more when I am eating a taco salad than a bowl of tortilla chips.  I was never really a fan of the large taco shell bowl – I much preferred tortilla chips crushed up and sprinkled over my salad or on the side. 

Pepperidge Farm has recently introduced new, gluten-free Baked Naturals Tortilla Chips.

More about the new chips:

Simply Tortilla and Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips. With 43% less fat than the leading tortilla chip (4.5g total fat/28g serving compared to 8g total fat/28g serving) and 16g whole grain per serving, Baked Naturals Tortilla Chips are baked in a facility where a GF clean is validated at every production run.

The chips come in two different varieties:

Simply Tortilla – Stone ground corn masa flour, yellow corn flour, vegetable oils (corn, sunflower and/or safflower), whole grain yellow corn flour, cornstarch, millet, toasted corn germ, contains less than 2% of the following: salt, teff, soy lecithin, whey (milk), sesame oil.

Nacho Cheese – Stone ground corn masa flour, yellow corn flour, vegetables oils (corn, sunflower and/or safflower), whole grain yellow corn flour, cornstarch, millet, toasted corn germ, contains less than 2% of the following: salt, dehydrated whey, teff, buttermilk powder, cheddar cheese (milk, cultures, salt, enzymes, annatto), garlic powder, onion powder, spices, sugar, tomato powder, whole milk solids, soy lecithin, corn maltodextrin, natural flavors, autolyzed yeast extract, citric acid, gum arabic, soybean oil and season seed oil.

Like many other salty snacks, these didn’t last long in our house.  I opened both bags while I was cooking dinner one night and passed them around.  The general consensus of the house was very positive! I especially liked the light taste & texture of the chips.  What a difference baking makes!  I also like how they are labeled “gluten-free” on the back. 

Keep an eye out for these gems in your local grocery stores, as I am sure they will be showing up on shelves soon, if they aren’t already there.
