Review: Popcorn, Indiana Chip’Ins

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to review some of Popcorn Indiana’s gourmet popcorn.  It was out of this world!  When they asked if I would be interested in sampling their Chip’Ins, I was excited!  If they were anywhere as near as good as the popcorn, I knew I was in for a treat.

More about Chip’Ins:

Instead of feasting on high-sodium, artificial munchies, open up a bag of all-natural Popcorn, Indiana chip’ins as a healthy, yet delicious alternative. These snacks are gluten-free, have zero trans fats and will make both your taste buds and waste line happy.

In a one-on-one match up against competing snacks, Popcorn, Indiana chip’ins puts the competition to shame in every category—offering more chips per serving and fewer calories, while cutting total fat by at least half. So, take these odds, and place your bets because with chip’ins, it’s a sure thing! Whether or not your team takes the title, you’re guaranteed a win with every bite.

Flavors include:

  • Jalapeño Ranch chip’ins
  • Hot Buffalo Wing chip’ins
  • White Cheddar chip’ins
  • Sea Salt chip’ins
  • Classic BBQ chip’ins

Price:  3.5 oz – $2.29 or 7.5 oz – $3.99

We sampled both the white cheddar and the buffalo wing varieties.  I have to tell you that I fell in love with the white cheddar!  The flavor reminded me of cheddar popcorn – probably because the chips are made from popcorn, right?  The chips have a very unique texture.  I was worried at first that I wouldn’t care for the texture, but I loved it!   The chips were crisp and flavorful and had great balance of seasoning in every bite!  The buffalo wing variety was very good as well – just the right amount of zing!  I can’t wait to try the sea salt variety!

More about Popcorn Indiana:

What should we tell you about ourselves? You’ve probably got some wild online searching or mad social networking to do, so we’ll just keep this simple, short, and sweet. That’s how we roll. We are wildly fanatical about healthier, whole grain snacking. Our mission is to make the best tasting better-for-you snacks on the planet. We have our own facility, filled with honest-to-goodness corn that is specifically grown for popping. We have special kettles that are filled, by hand, one scoop at a time, by real people, who are carefully producing, oh-so-lovingly, the greatest popcorn you’ve ever had. That sentence had a lot of commas, so you know we’re serious. We have popcorn chefs who do nothing but dream up fantastic flavor combinations. What a gig! We live and breathe whole grain snacking!

Is Popcorn, Indiana gluten free?

Yes. Popcorn and other corn varieties are naturally free of gluten. Gluten is a protein typically found in barley, wheat, rye, their cross-breeds (triticale), and by-products such as flour and MSG. While none of our products contain any of these ingredients and popcorn is a gluten-free grain, we had a FDA-affiliated lab analyze our popcorn because we are very concerned about our customers. The test results found no traces of gluten using the AOAC/CODEX Certified R5 method at a 20 parts per million accuracy level.

Popcorn Indiana’s products can be found in select Walgreens, Wal-mart & Whole Foods store locations or purchased online.
