Review: Steadfast Pale Ale

With the heat wave we have been having the past few weeks, one of the best ways to cool off in the evening is having an ice cold beer with dinner.  I had a Steadfast Pale Ale in my refrigerator just waiting to be sampled, so I couldn’t wait to open it up!  Steadfast Pale Ale comes in a 22 oz. bottle, which is roughly two servings.

I have to admit that while this picture was taken out on our deck/patio, I went right back inside.  When the heat index is 105+ degrees, there is no amount of beer to make it cool enough to stay outside for longer than a few minutes if there is air conditioning a few feet away.

Steadfast Pale Ale is brewed from sorghum and molasses – no barley is used!  I know that there are several gluten-free beers on the market that do use barley, but are rendered gluten-free due to the process, yet I have heard from a few people who have reacted to a couple of the varieties.  More about Steadfast Pale Ale:

Steadfast Sorghum Pale Ale embodies what American Craft Beer enthusiasts love about beer: HOPS! The generous hopping rate in our beer lends grassy and citrusy flavor notes reminiscent of the best American IPAs. Our sorghum and molasses provide a semi-sweet backdrop that mingles perfectly with the zing of our hops! Our recipe was written with the Gluten-Free Craft Beer drinker in mind—it delivers the Craft Beer experience without also delivering gluten.

QUALITY: With a higher alcohol content than most other Gluten-Free beers on the market, and a bolder flavor profile than all of its competition, Steadfast Sorghum Pale Ale maintains high levels of perceived and actual value to the consumer.  At 6.8% abv, Steadfast makes for a satisfying choice for wine and spirit drinkers to transition back into drinking beer. VALUE: A 22oz bottle of Steadfast Sorghum Pale Ale contains 1.8 servings; it’s the perfect amount for two people to share over dinner or for one person to enjoy independently. STEADFAST: No matter their reason for being on a Gluten-Free diet, our customers can rest assured that our product contains less than 10 parts-per-million of Gluten. We work closely with our brewing team to ensure that no cross-contamination occurs and that vigilant standards of sanitation are in place at all times. Our beer has been tested by the Siebel Institute to ensure optimally low levels of Gluten.

I was impressed with the flavor of Steadfast Pale Ale.  It was a heavier beer, in my opinion, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  This is a beer that I would be more likely to drink alone, as opposed to with a meal, as I found it pretty filling.  Additionally, this would be a great beer to cook with – add to chili or use in a beer-battered fish recipe!

Steadfast Pale Ale can be found in many stores in New York state or purchased online*.   Right now there is a deal for 2-22 oz bottles for $11.99 with free shipping on the website!
