Review: Sweet Pete’s Sea Salt Caramel

Yes, these caramels are just as earth-shattering as you would imagine they would be.  The combination of the creamy, sweet caramel & just the right amount of sea salt had me dreaming about these last night!  I had never tasted sea salt caramel before, but love dark chocolate with sea salt, so I was excited to try the caramels.

Sweet Pete’s has a nice variety of gluten-free (and some vegan) candy.  Not only are the caramels gluten-free, but they also offer chocolate, chocolate covered pretzels and cookies (gluten-free), gummi bears and much more.  I was shocked when I visited their website as I had not heard of Sweet Pete’s before they contacted me.  More about Sweet Pete’s:

Our Philosophy – All Natural Sweets

Sweet Pete’s – Pure, Simple Sweets

“I have worked in the confectionary industry since the age of 14 when my mother founded Peterbrooke Chocolatier. She named the business after my sister Brooke and me. I have long had a passion for making confections.

Many confections contained high fructose corn syrup and other unnatural ingredients. Increasingly, candy was manufactured in Mexico or China. I believed that consumers deserved better.

I believed that consumers deserved pure, simple, sweets made the traditional way with real cane sugar while using natural flavors and colors.

It became clear to me that there would be a need for my sweet services! A good friend and now business partner approached me about a neat old house in Springfield –a quaint up and coming Jacksonville neighborhood. Everything just clicked and Sweet Pete’s was born!”

I love the philosophy behind Sweet Pete’s!  You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in the sea salt caramels that we sampled.  The ingredients are: corn syrup, sugar, water, sweetened condensed milk, butter, salt, sea salt, pure vanilla extract.

The sea salt caramels are Sweet Pete’s best seller!  They are made in small 15 lb batches daily and have no preservatives.  The caramels can be ordered online (year round – they are heat resistant!).  The caramels are $8.50 for an 8 oz. bag; $22.00 for a 22 oz. candy dish; $40.00 for a 42 oz. candy dish and $75.00 for an 80 oz candy dish.

In keeping up with social media these days, Sweet Pete’s has their own blog, Twitter handle and Facebook page.  If you are lucky enough to live in Jacksonville, FL, stop by and see what Sweet Pete’s has to offer.  They are open Tuesday – Saturday 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM; Sunday from 12:00 Noon – 5:00 PM and closed Monday.

**I received these caramels free of charge to review.  The opinions shared here are mine and have not been influenced by anyone or anything.
