Review: Wholesome Chow Chocolate Lavender Cake Mix

It was just over a week ago that I shared my review of the Wholesome Chow Lavender Cake mix.  I promised that I would share my thoughts on the chocolate cake mix once I made it and I am here to hold true to my promise.

Once again, the instructions were very clear and this cake was super-easy to bake.  I simply added milk and oil, mixed in a bowl and tossed into my oven.  I added cow’s milk, but if you wanted to keep the cake vegan, any non-dairy milk should work.  The package called for the use of a 9-inch or cupcake pan.  I only have an 8-inch pan and that worked just fine.  More about the cake mix:

This cake is not only free of gluten, but it is also free of egg, dairy, casein, peanut, nut and corn.

I had wonderful plans to ice this cake with a homemade frosting made with Dry Lavender Soda, but time got away from me, so I used a cream cheese frosting that I had on hand.

This cake is another home run from Wholesome Chow!  While I still think that the original Lavender Cake mix is my favorite, this one comes in close behind.  The combination of chocolate, lavender and cream cheese was fantastic!  I shared the cake with a few non-gluten-free friends who also raved about it!
