So Delicious Almond Plus

Those who drink dairy-free and soy-free milks may be concerned that there is little protein in their replacement beverage.  I have looked for an almond milk with protein, but until I discovered So Delicious Almond Plus, I was lucky if I found one with more than 1 gram of protein per serving.

So Delicious Almond Plus has 5 grams of protein per serving (1 cup).  In addition to 5 grams of protein, each serving has 70 calories, 2 grams fat and 5 grams carbohydrates.  The ingredients in the “original” variety are:

ALMOND MILK (WATER, ALMONDS), DRIED CANE SYRUP, PEA PROTEIN, RICE PROTEIN, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE, CARRAGEENAN, NATURAL FLAVOR, LOCUST BEAN GUM, KOSHER SEA SALT, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, VITAMIN D-2, L-SELENOMETHIONINE (SELENIUM), ZINC OXIDE, FOLIC ACID, VITAMIN B-12.

There are two other varieties available:

  • Unsweetened Almond Plus
  • Vanilla Almond Plus

Almond Plus is certified gluten-free, non-GMO, Kosher and vegan.  More about the new Almond Plus:

Almond Plus™ almond milk delivers the full spectrum of 9 essential amino acids that your body needs, and five times the protein of most other almond milks: that’s 5 grams of get up and go, carpe diem in every 8 oz glass. And it’s 100% soy and dairy-free. Cheers to almond milk plus protein!

I have been keeping my eye on the shelves of my local grocery stores for this milk, so when I found it at Earth Fare for BOGO (buy one, get one free), I danced in the aisle!  I have really grown to like the taste of almond milk, even unsweetened.  The original variety is sweetened, but next time I plan on trying to find the unsweetened.  I enjoyed this milk by the glass and in my morning coffee.  I love that it has protein, even if it isn’t equivalent to the amount in cow’s milk.
