Starbucks Coffee Requests Gluten Free Menu Suggestions

Do you enjoy drinking coffee in public?  Having places available public where people with Celiac Disease can go to eat/drink can be an extremely important step towards living a healthy and normal lifestyle.

One place that is pretty much everywhere these days is Starbucks, and they are looking for ideas from the Celiac community for possible gluten free menu items.

Here are a few questions we have for you:

  • What specific gluten-free products would you like to see in our stores?
  • Would you prefer to see it individually packaged or unpackaged?
  • How would you like to learn we have gluten-free products? For example, would you like to see it on a sign or would you prefer the barista tell you?
  • Where would you like to see gluten-free products in the store; in the pastry case or placed elsewhere?
  • The ingredient costs of gluten-free products tend to be higher, so would you understand if we charged more for the gluten-free version?

A special thanks goes out to Zach for the great tip!

Starbucks should start making bagels! A company called glutino makes great ones if they prefer not to make them. Also rice krispy treats are good, or muffins. I would definitely enjoy sitting in a starbucks and actually eat something there with my coffee.

We would love gluten free products at starbucks!!!! Individually packaged is good as it would prevent cross contamination (I hope). Also, GF muffins would be wonderful too. If you could list any allergens in those it would be helpful as many people with celiac or gluten sensitivities have other food allergies also….i.e. eggs or dairy.
    THank you!

Lori – there are about 7 or so individually packaged gluten-free items sold at most U.S. Starbucks presently. None of them are anything exciting to me, but many people enjoy the options. You can read about them here

I would LOVE to be able to sit and enjoy a warm beverage besides tea with my husband each morning. I called their toll free number hoping that there would be new options. I was told that due to the possibility of cross-contamination, they could only verify the tea to be free of gluten. I feel left out and will be looking for a new place to spend our mornings together. I would gladly offer affordable food options as well. First things first though, if I can’t even have a cup of coffee at Starbucks, than there’s no need for anything to eat.
