Summer at Wendy's

Summertime often means family vacations, road trips, etc. Unless you plan on packing food for every meal, you will most likely have to stop along the way to eat. Fast food isn’t always the healthiest option, and many of those options contain gluten. Wendy’s offers a nice variety of options for those needing to follow the gluten-free diet, including a brand new salad for summer.

I have been seeing commercials for this salad for the past few days and finally remembered to check to see if it was gluten-free. I was thrilled to learn that it is indeed gluten-free! The new salad contains sweet strawberries, honey-roasted sunflower seeds, applewood smoked bacon, chicken and blue cheese crumbles and comes with an apple balsamic vinaigrette. The new salad collection has several other gluten-free options as well. Complete your meal with a strawberry iced tea or strawberry lemonade.

It is important to inform the employee preparing your food to take care to not cut your chicken on the same surface as food that contains gluten.Wendy’s has information about gluten on their website, indicating they do have some understanding of Celiac Disease and gluten intolerance. However, I still ask questions and say “please” and “thank you” for taking good care of me while I asking for special preparations. Kindness goes a long way.

Wendy’s has locations across the US, making it a great place to depend on for gluten-free options while traveling. Have you tried any of the new salads at Wendy’s? What about the Strawberry Fields Chicken Salad?
