Udi’s Gluten-Free Now in Kroger’s Nationwide

When I attended the Celiac Conference last week, I got some fantastic information from Jillian of Udi’s Gluten-Free Foods. Udi’s is now being carried all Kroger stores nationwide. The Udi’s products can be located in the bakery area of the store.

It was fun hanging out with Jillian for a little while at the conference and watching several people take their first taste of Udi’s bread or muffins. The look on their face – the words that came from their mouth – awesome! I sometimes forget just how fortunate I am to live in a city the size of Columbus with access to a couple of great health foods stores that carry a large variety of gluten-free foods.

    What great news! Since i do my regular shopping at Kroger that will be so much nicer than having to make the extra trip somewhere else to stock up on bread. Will they carry the pizza crusts too?

      Anne – I just got confirmation that they picked up the whole product line, so YES they will have the crusts!

        Wow – that is great news! So far, I’ve only seen the bread and bagels at Publix so I’d definitely go to Kroger for the muffins and pizza crusts.

    I guess not all Kroger stores have gotten the news…. went to mine yesterday and asked the department manager for it when I couldn’t find it. I got a blank stare and a “What? How do you spell that?” Our Kroger has a “natural foods” section where they put all of the organic, gluten-free, “special needs” grocery items — and when the manager of that department had never heard of Udi’s, I knew it was a hopeless venture. I told her that was OK — I’d go across the street to their competitor, Ingle’s, where I knew I could find it….. :)

      Cindy – Did you check the regular bakery department? I believe that is where the products are, or so I was told.

    Hi Kim — yep, checked the bakery too — the only thing in their freezer case was decorated cakes.. Since all of the other gluten-free breads and frozen foods are in the freezer case in the “natural foods” section, it only makes sense that that’s where Udi’s would be too, when and if they ever carry it. I sent an e-mail to Kroger headquarters with an inquiry…

      I found Udi’s at my Smith’s Store (Kroger) in the regular bakery department. This was the first time that I had seen Udi’s bread not frozen.

    wow taht’s great now they just need to add Katz gluten free products and i will be able to do my shopping in 1 store wow
