Recently, Dana Vollmer made waves at the 2012 London Olympics where she set a new world record and won gold in the women’s 100-meter butterfly. Dana also garnered two additional gold medals in the 400 meter medley and 800 meter freestyle relays. Dana is unique amongst many Olympic swimmers; in lieu of carb-heavy foods traditionally eaten by athletes, Dana adheres to a strict gluten-free diet which has improved her health and performance.
“Not being able to eat one of my favorite foods, pizza, was extremely disappointing until I found Venice Bakery’s gluten-free and vegan pizza!” Dana says. “Since eating my first bite of their gluten-free pizza, I was in heaven again…they are by far the best that I have ever had!”
Promoting healthy eating habits has always been a top priority of Legacy Gym’s culture and philosophy and the majority of the trainers and members follow a gluten free diet.
Venice Bakery maintains a sterling reputation for their long-time support of the gluten-free community. Venice Bakery CEO Jimmy DeSisto hopes the event will help raise awareness of Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, dietary burdens that cause suffering for millions of Americans each day.
If you live in or will be in the Los Angeles area and wish to attend this event, please make sure to RSVP by October 1, 2012, as space is limited.
Jon and I have had the opportunity to sample the pizza crusts from Venice Bakery and were very pleased! The crust is thin and crisps up nicely in the oven. I look forward to sampling the flatbread later on this week.
