Where to Find Gluten-Free Restaurant Menu Information

Over the past five years there has been a steady growth in celiac awareness throughout the United States and with this growth has come some much needed attention from several major chain restaurants who want to have offerings on their menus which are available for the celiac community.  As a result, what we have today is a large number of gluten-free restaurant menus or lists of gluten-free offerings at some of these chain restaurants and fast food establishments.

Probably the most well-known resource for gluten-free restaurant information is the Gluten Free Restaurant Awareness Program website (GFRAP), which is maintained by the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America.  GFRAP works directly with restaurants and provides resources to assist with building a gluten-free menu, then once approved, they are listed in their excellent gluten-free restaurant database. This of course is great for those newly diagnosed with celiac disease or for people that are traveling to an area they are unfamiliar with but what if you are looking for gluten-free menu information for a specific restaurant in your area?

If you are one of our newer readers, you may not know that about a year ago we launched a website called Gluten Free Restaurants which provides a slightly different service by sharing gluten-free restaurant information about specific restaurant’s gluten-free menus.   Although all types of restaurants have been featured on the website, including some local restaurants in remote areas, the primary focus has always been on major chain restaurants.

For your reference, here are a few of the restaurants which we’ve covered in the past:

Gluten-Free Fast Food Menu Options

Gluten-Free Dine-In Restaurant Options

Of course some restaurant chains have much less to offer than others, but we’ve tried to share our findings for each restaurant chain regardless of how extensive their gluten-free options are.  Because we believe that you should always do your own research, whenever is is available we list the gluten-free menu information for the readers convenience and provide direct links to the official gluten-free menu information on the companies website.  We will also often provide contact information so you can call the company directly to inquire to verify the information is still accurate (though our posts are updated regularly).

If you’d like to receive these updates, you can subscribe here (feed reader) or get updates emailed to you.   Also, if you know of a restaurant chain that hasn’t been featured yet, please let us know and it will likely be featured in an upcoming post!

  1. This compilation is wonderful Kyle! Though I tend to skip eating at chains for the most part, it’s great to know which ones provide gf options, especially when you’re traveling and get stuck without preset plans on where you’re eating. Thanks for the info!

Absolutely. Some even offer PDF’s which is a huge help! I keep a print out in my car for when i’m out and about. When I’m by myself it is nice to know of a few options at fast food restaurants such as baked potatoes, salads, etc.

  2. Same here – I put the menus in a folder for the car. Do you have Steak N Shakes in your area? I LOVE their chili and it is gluten-free! And it’s just about chili time in Hotlanta, which is not hot presently. It’s freezing and raining here today but hopefully the sun will come out again this week.
