Wow Charlie! That is impressive that the Hixson Outback is so informed. Too funny about the guy in AL and the potato. I’ve been told many times that I can’t eat corn…lol!

For key lime pie crust, get the Earthfare brand of gluten-free ginger snaps. Follow a pie crust recipe (we use the ones on http://www.pamelasproducts.com) and you’ll be good to go. Easy and delicious!

Thanks for coming out in the horrible weather for my event last month. I stayed on Signal Mountain and was stuck in town until noon due to the road falling down the mountain. That trip confirmed my thoughts about living on a mountain – it’s not for me.

The Outback in Chattanooga (Northgate Mall in Hixson) is serious about getting you GF food. They quiz you about the reasons you need gluten free e.g. “Do you have Celiac disease or are you just trying to eat gluten-free”, or “of course you don’t want the croutons on that”. As far as I know, they don’t have an extended GF menu.

I ate at an Outback in Mobile, AL, and the waiter really challenged me because I order a baked potato. He was sure that a potato couldn’t be GF. Go figure.

I was trying to find a good recipe for Key lime pie crust & ran onto this blog. Not thinking I can ask someone to take 12 hours to prepare a crust for me. YIKES!

Well I’am Here to tell you that the World’s Best Key Lime Pie is
at Kutchie’s Key West in Asheville, Carolina. Kutchie’s Pie is
The World’s Heavy Waite of Key Lime Pies! He Holds the Title
for the Pie and also for his Goody Goody Cheese Burgers. If
Anyone has a Problem with that, They can take it up with me.

Yes, I won’t go to another Outback unless there is seriously no other option available. That means sometimes when traveling if we get stuck, we go to OB. But the ones in our region went through a new training gf program that has not rolled out nationally yet. They really need to get on it though – I don’t care if other locations have the new extended gf menu but they do need to know they can’t pick croutons off our salads.

Wow, this is very encouraging news Tiffany. It is great to see restaurants embrace the Celiac community like this.

Unfortunately, I have an Outback within driving distance, but the two times I visited the server didn’t seem to understand my needs. I didn’t end up having any problems after either meal, but it wasn’t a great experience so I haven’t made any effort to go back.
