Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Gluten-Free Menu

Last Updated on March 14, 2023 by the Celiac-Disease.com Staff 19 Comments

Looking for a nice gluten-free meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)? Well, to make a long story short, good luck! Despite their recent menu revision which includes grilled chicken items, they still do NOT offer any type of gluten-free chicken. So, what do they offer?

Official Website Menu Information: Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Gluten-Free Menu
Location Finder: Find a Kentucky Fried Chicken Location Near You

According to a representative with KFC, the following few items are confirmed to be gluten-free (not all items are available at every KFC location):

Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Gluten-Free Menu

  • Green Beans
  • Potato Salad
  • Seasoned Rice
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Corn

Note: mashed potatoes with or without gravy contain gluten.

It is a shame as the grilled chicken could have easily been made gluten-free, exposing their product to a large community of consumers that currently can’t or won’t go there.

As always, when dining out gluten-free, do your due diligence and make sure the staff understands your needs. There are very few restaurants that are 100% gluten-free, so cross-contamination is always a risk. If you don’t feel comfortable with what you are hearing from the staff, perhaps it is best to dine elsewhere.

Not sure why you would want to eat at this place anyway.

Why or why can’t they even try going gluten free, replace their breadcrumbs with gluten free, and their flour with gluten free, and hey presto a gluten free kfc, its the spices that make the taste so i doubt it will change it, and in my experiance, gluten free breadcrumbs tend to be crispier too!

Gluten free bread crumbs would increase their food costs by quite a bit over a year. So unless they pass those fees onto the customer to make it worthwhile for them, they won’t do it.

It makes sense that the grilled chicken should have been gluten free KFC managment has a job in front of them if they want to last because a gluten free diet is getting more popular every day not gust for Celiacs but for people with wheat allergies, people with insomnia and people to cut out any carbs for an alternation healthy carb.
Good luck to the managment if they can last with out offering gluten free chicken because it is none that in a few more years 1 in 90 people will have celiac and 1 out of 5 will like to remain on a gluten free diet for medicinal benifits in their health and other reasons reasons, come on taco bell and KFC jump on board already will Ya!

When the KFC grilled chicken came out last year, I called the company to find out if any of it was gluten-free. I was shocked when the person there told me not only was it NOT gluten-free, even the mashed potatoes without gravy contain gluten. KFC really missed out a big chance to increase their business with that goof.

Even their coleslaw contains gluten. Seems like they should be able to make a gluten-free coleslaw easily enough….it used to be my favorite….

Well, I just ate at KFC thinking that the grilled chicken was gluten free and now I have a headache, my faceis bright red and my lip is swollen due to gluten antibodies. I will have to be more careful next time.

I can’t believe the potatoes have gluten.!!And the cole slaw?! Come on!! It’s like they’re asking to lose profits. A few minor changes and they could bring in a huge crowd of Gluten free customers. And maybe I could get out of a night of cooking.

I can’t believe the mashed potatoes without gravy and the coleslaw are not gluten free. How did they manage to get gluten in those? Most kfc’s also have a LJS and they really have no gf offerings either. How about the fries. Are they gf?
