Last Updated on March 14, 2023 by the Celiac-Disease.com Staff 5 Comments

Wondering if Mimi’s Cafe offers a gluten-free menu? We recently got a new Mimi’s Cafe in my area and being that they are a national chain, I decided to look into the possibility of gluten-free offerings.

As always, when dining out gluten-free, do your due diligence and make sure the staff understands your needs. There are very few restaurants that are 100% gluten-free, so cross-contamination is always a risk. If you don’t feel comfortable with what you are hearing from the staff, perhaps it is best to dine elsewhere.

We went to dinner last night to celebrate my husband and daughter’s birthdays and I was pleased to find that Mimi’s has a menu for people with Celiac Disease. I have been recently been diagnosed and am excited to see that they care about customers in such an awesome way. I had the potroast with mashed potatos and grilled veggies. It was amazing!!I never knew that this was available and cant wait to go again.

That is great that you had such a nice time at Mimi’s. We went to one in Atlanta years ago and they prepared our meals with gluten and had to re-do them. It was good that they figured it out before we ate anything, but it was not fun to watch the others in the group eat while we almost starved waiting for our food to be remade. I would not go back to Mimi’s based on that experience and other similar stories I’ve heard about this particular location. Each location of each chain is different. Some get it and many just don’t – with all major chains that have gf menus.

Thanks for the info! I was in one here locally (DC area) and the young man, when I asked if they had a gluten free menu, replied that he wasn’t sure, but that he was pretty sure nothing the serve has gluten in it. 🙂
Needless to say, I realized quickly that I needed to stick with water. He was very kind, however, and did deliver a notebook filled with allergy information. I gave up and just had a beverage, enjoyed the company of my friends, and ate later.
I give them credit for trying…that’s something!

Mimi’s has a “notebook” that list ingredients for menu items for numerous allergies and intolerances. Only one Mimi’s I’ve visited was aware of the “notebook” and not even the manager was aware of the content.
The breakfast potatos were listed as NOT WHEAT FREE- they are soaked in a wheat starch solution to aid crisping when cooked (much the same as McDonalds and Jack-in-the-Box french fries)

I went there last night for dinner. The server couldn’t find any gluten free options. He did bring me the dessert tray to view which didn’t make any sense since none of it was GF. I hope he is only inexperienced. Very sad.
