When I first heard that Pepperidge Farm had made a gluten-free goldfish cracker I thought it was too good to be true. Then I found out that said cracker was being carried at Target, so I made sure to stop by when I was out running errands the following day. Sure enough, right there next to the regular Goldfish was this bag of gluten-free goodness:
The new Goldfish Puffs come in three different varieties:
- Buffalo Wing
- Mega Cheese
- Cheddar Bacon
My Target store only had the Buffalo Wing and they just happened to be on sale. I am not sure if my store only carries the one variety because it isn’t a Super Target or varieties differ by location.
I couldn’t wait to dig into these to see how they taste! The Goldfish Puffs are larger than the original Goldfish and they are like a cross between a cracker and a cheese puff. I really liked the flavor and don’t think they are too spicy, which is something I was afraid of when I first saw the variety. I do appreciate the other two varieties being milder for gluten-free kids who just want to be like their friends and classmates.
Unfortunately I was unable to find any information on the Pepperidge Farm or Goldfish website regarding the new Goldfish Puffs. Here is a photo of the ingredient list on the Buffalo Wing variety:
Have you spotted or tried the new Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Puffs?

Disgusting! Gmos, MSG…all sorts of nastiness.
Make your own!
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
It is nice to have the option to make your own, too, though some may be intimidated by it.

In all seriousness, how? Sounds like an interesting concept.
Here is a recipe a friend shared with me:
GF snack crackers
2T butter softened
1 egg
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 c rice flour
1/4 c potato starch
1t xanthan gum
3 T water. Or as needed to combine dough
Sea salt for sprinkling
Oven at 400 f
Mix butter until creamy. Add egg, salt and pepper. Stir in shredded cheese one-third at a time until incorporated.
Pre-mix flours and xanthan gum and stir into butter and cheese mixture.
Work dough into a ball adding 1 T of water at a time.
Between plastic wrap or parchment. Roll dough as thin as possible. Remove top sheet and using a pastry cutter cut into one- inch squares. Top with sea salt. Bake on parchment lined sheet for 10 mins.

How can it be gluten-free if it’s got yeast extract in it?
Yeast extract is gluten free. BREWER”S yeast is NOT.

I bought a small bag of the buffalo wing flavor at Walgreens. $.99 and yummy! The large bag was $2.99, I think. My celiac kid enjoyed them, too, although she is looking forward to trying the other flavors. They only had the buffalo wing.

I am beyond getting excited about any new gf product. I cannot eat Gluten-Free Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Puffs! I also react to MSG very badlly. Eating
Gluten-Free Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Puffswould make me sick for 2 days. “Natural flavors” and “Yeast Extract” are code words for MSG. Please tell Pepperidge Farm not to put MSGin their food.
MSG is a neurotoxin used in baby food, baby formula, vaccines, and pretty much any processed food. The neurotoxin excites certain brain cells to keep
firing until they die. MSG is not something anyone should be eating.

anyone have
Qwackers Gluten Free Cheddar Crackers – 6 Pack
curious how they are in comparison (as i do not like the pepperidge)
The Qwackers are a better substitute for the goldfish crackers because they are actually a cracker, whereas the goldfish puff is just a Cheetos puff. Also, the Qwackers are made in a dedicated gf facility, but not sure yet about the puff.

I bought the 7oz bag with the open / reclose flap thing like Oreos – except there is no hole lol. I pulled down the flap and pulled more & more & more then got to the bottom of the bag and had this big shinny surface with no hole!!!!!!!

My father just found these at Save-A-Lot of all places!
My daughter can only eat gluten free. she lives in a small rural town as do I. But when we went into a larger town Big Lots had the 7 0z bag for 1.00. I tried them loved them. sent my daughter pictures and she approved for me to send. elsewhere I have seen them for 2.99 I am going to send her your info.
These made my two celiac kids SUPER sick. They both had horrible problems after eating– will spare the details!–but there are so many chemicals and doubtless it’s not a dedicated gf facility. I haven’t seen them get sick like this since a neighbor accidentally gave them non gf pasta.
